Welcoming the New CS Graduate Students: Connecting Scholars with Library Spaces, Resources, and Services
On October 05, 2026, the College of Science welcomed approximately 120 new graduate students for the first semester of Academic Year 2026-2027 during the CS New Graduate Students Orientation at the Institute of Biology Auditorium. Organized by the College of Science Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (OADAA), the event marked the beginning of a new chapter for these scholars. Joining the occasion, the College of Science Libraries, together with the librarians and staff of the Institute Libraries and the CSLIB Marketing Team, welcomed the students and introduced the library resources and services available to support their academic and research pursuits.
As part of its continuing outreach efforts, the CS Libraries presented an updated orientation video during the program, highlighting the guidelines, spaces, collections, and services available across the College’s libraries. Meanwhile, interactive booths at the auditorium lobby offered students an opportunity to explore the Institute Libraries through informational brochures and promotional posters for subscribed e-resources and databases. Three games added a playful touch to the experience, giving participants the chance to win prizes and tokens to accompany them as they begin their graduate studies. A photobooth station also provided a space for students to capture memories with their friends and fellow scholars.
Beyond the games, prizes, and photographs, the CS Libraries’ participation served as an introduction to a network of academic and research support waiting to be explored. As the new graduate students embark on their studies, the Libraries reaffirm their commitment to being accessible and reliable partners throughout their academic journey, from finding essential references to navigating the demands of research. Through these efforts, the CS Libraries hope to make one thing clear: wherever their studies and research may lead, the CS Libraries are here to help them as they navigate their paths.
