Training Future Librarians: CSLIB’s 2025 OJT Highlights
The College of Science Libraries (CSLIB) continues its commitment to mentoring and shaping future information professionals through its on-the-job training (OJT) and work immersion programs, welcoming students from various Library and Information Science (LIS) institutions across academic terms.
Throughout Academic Year 2024-2025 and 2025-2026, CSLIB proudly hosted multiple OJT batches, each contributing their talents, creativity, and enthusiasm to the Library’s ongoing projects and daily operations. In total, CSLIB catered to fifteen (15) students from the Bulacan State University (BulSU) and six (6) students from the University of the Philippines School of Library and the Information Studies (UP SLIS). The dedication and teamwork of these students left a lasting mark across the CS Library and Institute Libraries.
The UP SLIS OJTs conducted a report on the College of Science Library’s accessibility for students with disabilities and developed the “Know Your Library: A Citizen’s Charter Awareness Series,” producing a total of eight (8) informative videos. Meanwhile, the most recent batch of BulSU OJTs organized the “Calm Quest: Where Logic Meets Leisure” midterm stress-relief activity and produced the instructional video for the CS Libraries eBook Hub.
CSLIB extends its warmest congratulations and gratitude to all OJTs for their hard work, creativity, and commitment. Through their efforts, the CSLIB continues to grow as a dynamic learning environment, not just for its users, but also for aspiring librarians.
As part of its extension and capacity-building initiatives, the College of Science Libraries continues to welcome LIS undergraduates and Senior High School students seeking OJT and work immersion opportunities, fostering learning, mentorship, and service in the field of librarianship.
