Embracing the Future: The Role of Stewards in Organization Development
The College of Science Libraries team has consistently demonstrated steadfast dedication to ensuring uninterrupted service provision across both our physical and digital spaces. Over time, we have continuously improved and refined our processes and service offerings that fosters stronger ties with the faculty members, students and researchers in general. While our journey has been marked by significant challenges resulting from constrained human and financial resources, our determination has prevailed, leading to noteworthy accomplishments in the CY 2023:
- Enhanced CS Library Website-We undertook substantial enhancements to our website rendering it to be more user-friendly and informative.
- Second Phase of the CS Libraries eBook Hub: Building upon the success of our eBook Hub, we executed the second phase, enhancing our digital resource repository.
- Collaborative Engagements with Associate Dean Offices-We established collaborative partnerships with Associate Dean Offices, fostering interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and collaborative benefits.
- Research Data Services Implementation: Recognizing the importance of research data, we instituted comprehensive Research Data Services, augmenting support for the College of Science.
- Establishment of a 24/7 Study Facility (to all students and including Non-UP researchers)- In line with our commitment to accessibility, we introduced round-the-clock study facilities, extending access to all researchers, including those from outside institutions.
- Freshman/Graduate Orientation Program(s)-We initiated orientation programs tailored for incoming undergraduate and graduate students, facilitating their seamless integration into our academic community.
- Mental Health Awareness initiatives- To promote well-being within our academic environment, we launched initiatives aimed at raising awareness and providing support.
- Active Social Media Presence- We cultivated an active and engaging presence on various social media platforms to enhance our outreach and communication with our stakeholders.
- Personalized Library Services -Recognizing the unique needs of our users, we instituted personalized services across our institute libraries.
- Digitization of CS Libraries’ Book Collection: We embarked on a comprehensive digitization effort, preserving and facilitating access to our extensive collection of printed materials.
- Ongoing Process Improvement- Our commitment to excellence led to continual refinement of our library processes, ensuring efficient service delivery.
As we look forward, our vision extends to the coming years, guided by a strategic framework that harnesses our existing competencies and resources to accentuate our strengths. Collaboration remains a focal point, as we engage with key stakeholders, including individuals from various CS institutes, Associate Dean Offices, and subject matter experts in the ICT domain. Our collective efforts as a cohesive team, bolstered by the support and guidance of the CS Administration, will be directed toward the realization of both short-term and long-term goals. These goals include:
- We aspire to elevate our research services by establishing a Research Data Service (RDS) system to facilitate scholarly documentation, and accurate and up-to-date information dissemination.
- Streamlining Service Processes: We are committed to streamlining our RDS delivery processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implementation of Immersion/Training Program in NSRI: We are in the process of implementing an immersion and training program in collaboration with the National Science Research Institute (NSRI), further enhancing our engagement with the research community.
