Kapit Lang Kape Lang: Treats Week Fuels Students Through Finals
For students powering through the long nights and endless reviews of finals week, sometimes all it takes is a warm cup of coffee, a biscuit, or even a simple meal to keep going. This May 26-30, 2025, the College of Science Library once again opened its doors with an extra dose of comfort: Kapit Lang, Kape Lang – Co-Libs Collab: Treats Week.
What began as a small, semesterly gesture has now become a tradition. Every finals week, the Library, with the steady partnership of Ate Cheska’s Canteen and generous CSLIB staff, sets up a snack and coffee station for anyone who needs a lift while studying late into the night. This semester, the initiative grew even stronger with the U.P. School of Library and Information Studies Library joining as a partner, and afternoon rounds of treats sponsored by Dr. Caesar Saloma and Dr. Cynthia Palmes-Saloma.
From coffee and biscuits at the lobby to late-night packed meals at the 24/7 Study Nook, Treats Week became a daily highlight for students juggling exams, papers, and projects. The initiative wasn’t just about food, it was about encouragement. A small push on the back, a reminder from the Library saying, “You’ve got this. Kaya mo ‘yan!”
Across five days, morning to evening, collaborators and sponsors kept the fuel flowing. Students would drop by for a quick bite, then head back to their whiteboards, laptops, and classrooms a little lighter, a little stronger. These moments, though simple, made finals week feel less like a solitary grind and more like a shared journey.
As the last day wrapped up, the message remained clear: the College of Science Library is with its students every step of the way, not only in their academic pursuits but also in the quiet moments in between. With Treats Week continuing each semester, students can always look forward to a warm cup, a free snack, and the steady support of their library community.
